Yuneec H850 first pics

I also have seen the h850.
the h850 does have many new features on top there are many usb ports connections covered by flaps. also the antennas seem to be much more solid than h520e. the controller storage capacity is at least 32 gigs instead of the st16e 4 gigs. props are swing open not the solid ones used on the h520e not sure if they are quick release but possible screw on type. the motors arms are twist on connectors that are very firm. the antennas need to be balanced. there is no sonar obs unlike the h520e. the controller is smaller 2 external antennas. and much much better than the st16 series. also new external battery pack for it. the battery are no longer the dumb type they do have voltage led indicators on the sides of them for state of charge. however the batteries are said to run 500.00 usa per battery. they are six cell type. and top is much more friendly for anti collision lighting installations fire house arc xl and arc v will be perfect for it. to replace the arms about 6 to 8 screws will have to be removed 3 to 4 on each side only tricky part is the bottom part which is solid around the top of the drone. there are one a few questions to be answered one. the charger for the flight and controller batteries. do you need a payload to fly it because on the data pilot the manual bind button is back that is not there for the h520e. and the other how well it does in the air.

There are already companies making good quality battery replacements, often with higher capacity than the original. We have them next to the original ones in our store - the customer decides what he buys.

People, the preliminary expected price is over 8.5K bucks. This digit closes all the next questions. Well-known H480, with all communication protocols, discovered, channel settings possible in the ST, and a lot of other good things, like retractable landing gear, 360 degrees camera rotation, and more and more, costs 500 bucks only.

This product is good to sell to the government structures with a good roll-back of paid money to the responsible persons.
 
These are the first pictures of the new Yuneec H850. What do you think and think?

Some specs:
60 min flight time on 2 batterys of 13500mAh
No retractable landing gear.

I am going to be curious if having the screen below the controls is going to cause issues with people's hands being in the way. Think it would be better to have the controls on the side of the screen.

Was there any mention of range, and possibly what frequency range the controller and camera will be using?

Do you know what it's lift capability will be, and if it there might be some type of sky crane add-on?

I use mine mostly for SAR in the U.S., and like flying the heavies (H520 right now) but the H520 as is well known, does not have the best design for distance or if any obstacles get between it and the controller, like a tree, which we have a lot of. I was looking at the 520e, but this design is more of what I would be interested in.

Does it have 360 degree object avoidance? I like Yuneec better then DJI or Autel, mostly because of the belly camera, but the lack of 360 object avoidance has been a big issue.

Guessing the price range is probably going to be close to DJI's M300 class.

Unfortunately it based on PX4 flight control with no proper spline/curve support, this means that POI/ROI and CCC (if even implemented) will be unusable just like the H520/H Plus/H3
 
Fortunately it has PX4 Autopilot. This offers a developer path planning interface whit that all you want is possible.
Everybody is invited (Yuneec too) to add features there.

Have a look at this: TRAJECTORY_REPRESENTATION_BEZIER (opens new window) may (alternatively) be used by path planning software to send PX4 the planned path as a bezier curve. The curve indicates the (moving) position setpoint of the vehicle over a given time period.

On the whole I guess this machine is not intended for use cases where you could just buy a standard camera drone - so the price is likely to be only a small part of the overall cost of the system you end up putting together - whether it's with a high end camera, sensor package or payload, or perhaps custom planning or flight software to carry out specific tasks.

As such, it looks to me like a "platform" rather than a product you just buy off the shelf and use. The older ST-16 controller is quite pleasant to write software for (I had a few prototypes for things it could potentially do, even an on-controller video editor), so the new one should be quite good and the PX4 software is not too painful. It looks like the hardware is fairly practical. At the end of the day, Yuneec are pretty good at designing solid air frames - so it's good to see new hardware coming out of the company.

From my point of view, whilst it would be nice to convert UAV Toolbox to work with this machine, it's not a "general purpose drone" so general purpose software wouldn't add much value. We're more into the sort of territory where people pay for specialist tools to be developed. That's the sort of thing I do in my day job, and really it comes down to whether the platform is well enough supported to allow customers to customise and control their specific use case. It'll be interesting to see if Yuneec (and their distributors) are up to the challenge.

Less of a job, more of a calling... or so my bank manager tells me!

The car is going great, though the last service bill made my eyes water. Such are the perils of driving silly cars. Worth it though.

Thanks for the endorsement, I'm glad people continue to value the app for managing the H-series drones.

I'm a little surprised

The things I like about the Typhoons are the ST16 controller, the arm design and the camera mount. These are things that I think should be retained in a successor.

Smaller controllers with their own video-image and the joysticks placed above it, such as the controllers from dji (RC, RC-Pro, etc) have the disadvantage that, if you do not explicitly pay attention to that, you regularly start or open functions or menus by touching the screen. This problem never occurs with the ST16, a fine controller.

An advantage of the arm assembly of the Typhoons, compared to the H920, is the simple and fast clicking system when unfolding the arms.

The camera position on the Typhoons is more central, so the differences in weight of the cameras used has less influence on the balance symmetry.

Keep the good things, improve the others, right?
 
In what class, according to Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945, will be positioned this stuff?

okay vertigo drones got some more detailed specs on this unit. looks like yuneec finally upgraded the h840 charger setup greatly compared to the h520e. transmision upgraded ce 4.97 miles 8km fcc 9.32miles 15km (I want to see that in done with video proof) s mode 44.7mph p mode standard 22.36mph max msl (mean sea level)16,404ft front and downward radar sensors extra not in base package. they ditched the sonar setup on the h480 and h520 and h520e. and this may not be pixhawk based. but cortex quad cpu and seperate gpu and npu setup. controller now does 1080p res instead of 720p. upward gimbal and down ward gimbal (that I need to see in person for myself before purchase.)
 
also the h840 is not fully plug and play for easy repairs unlike yuneec h series but more like the q500 series when it comes to certain repairs.

If it only keeps promises there will be busy people who would spend the money.
