A generic battery adapter to use cheaper batteries

I saw an adapter in the forums somewhere for other lipos but I didn't like the design much, so I made my own. If you have a 3D printer give it a try! If you don't have a printer I suppose you could beg me or someone else to print one for you.

Nice job. Have you done a test flight?
Just so you are aware, a generic Lipo would need to be 6300mAh to match the OEM battery which is labeled as 5400.

Inaugural test flight was tonight, ran perfect.

I'm selling my "old" external battery adapter (the one somebody is selling on ebay and that I didn't like), $15 if anybody wants it.

Hi, I want to ask few questions:

Are you using the original yuneec charger to charge this generic battery or using some other balanced charger?

Also I've also print some adapter but I'm having problems with inserting. Problem comes from that: the original battery profile is not a correct rectangle and there is something in the frame that stop to insert other profile. How you resolve that problem ?

I am using the Yuneec charger, it's the only one that I have. Getting similar flight times to the original battery.

Did you have problems inserting MINE or somebody else's? I designed mine to be about 1mm narrower than the stock battery in order to fit without making the more complex side shape of the original battery. There are also alignment slots in the side.

It's little bit bigger and as you said, side shape of the original battery is the problem to put it inside.
But i'll try to fix it and after that to share my experience

Indeed, mine is up to 1mm smaller in some dimensions to accommodate for the original battery's tapers.. Fits snugly. I notice that the designer of the one you posted says "This is a newer iteration than I use and I have not used this version yet" so that's something.
