I would not do that. The camera and gimbal produce a magnetic field, and I would want those to be considered during the calibration. Yes, the shape of the field will change with the movement of the gimbal, but I suspect the difference between different camera orientations is going to be less than having the camera and gimbal present vs. not present.I would recommend removing the camera before the compass calibration.
