I just purchased my H920 tornado I'm having a hard time communicating with my controller I have the ST16 . It will go up but it won't come down

Have you checked the sticks in Hardware Monitor? That is usually the problem.
In a pinch you can use Home mode and it should land on it's own.

Sounds in deed like the well know problem with the sticks. Check stick movements in the Hardware Monitor as Steve suggested.
Hardware monitor may not show the real story. Use the final output display activated by two quick double taps on the volts Icon, and see what the stick is really sending to the controller. Refer to Attachment 28 in the document of this thread:

Avoid using the power button! The 920 is heavy and a good bounce on the gear could destroy the gear actuators. That part is no longer available so if you break one you’ll never retract the gear again.
