If I remember correctly, somewhere in the bowels of this forum it was mentioned that one had to use U3 microSD cards in the camera. For chuckles I recently tried an A1 card and found that it recorded video and captured photos without an apparent problem. Am I missing something or is using only the U3 card a myth. Thanks in advance.

Using a U3 card for video is NOT a myth. Its not necessarily a requirement for still photos and perhaps some lower resolution and low fps video but if you're going to record 4K video with the CGO3+ you'll want/need it.

The H holds data for 5 mins then dumps that to the card. It’s not actually about real time transfer but the speed needed to handle the large hi res video files during that transfer. I’ve once or twice had clips be ten minutes like it missed the first dump at the 5 min limit but that was a while ago and I think firmware updates fixed that. If the cards too slow, it drops data in the transfer and creates artifacts in playback or even missing frames. It’s better to err on the side of faster speed and go with what works IHMO.
