I'm in contact with the FAA about 3 times a week as an FAA pilot examiner. My FAA inspector friends don't have the manpower to do surveillance on real aircraft operations. The local FSDO offices have seen a shortage of inspectors. When inspectors have retired they haven't been replaced. I personally know of pilots (even retired FAA inspectors) who fly without a valid medical or without a pilot certificate at all. The first airplane I ever bought was from a guy who owned a few thousand acres with a private strip and no pilot certificate. He had been flying for over 20 years. I also know of many who work on aircraft without a valid mechanics certificate. Those people are a higher priority than drone pilots.

My best advice though is don't be the one the FAA wants to use to set an example. Fly legally. Take the 107 exam. It's not that hard.

I cannot for the life of me find the test at the end of the course. Does anyone have a link to the online test?

TIA

TW

EDIT: I am a licensed Pilot, so I am supposed to be able to take the test free of charge I think.

As was mentioned in the video, seems they will only fine for folks "intentionally and unsafely violating the rules".
So go ahead fly without a license, just be careful not to "intentionally unsafely violate the rules" FAA motto "we really don't have the man power or time to enforce what we put into law"! o_O:confused::mad:

Since I plan on using my drone for "Commercial" purposes I really want to be able to take the test and get my Certificate...I think the liability issues outweigh any "luck of the draw" risks.
Thanks for your input though :)
