Ok, I did a search but did not find what I was looking for. Bottom line, the only apparent difference between the H+ and H520 is the case color. But the H520 costs $20 more. What am I missing?

Orange electrons are more difficult to harvest than the light gray ones.

But that makes no sense because the H520 is intended for agricultural use!! It's all soooo confusing!!

I was thinking that orange plastic was significantly more expensive than gray plastic!. Good to know there is actually a deeper technological explanation.

But either way, I always store my packs with the connection pointed upwards so the electrons don't drain out between uses.o_O

Perfect. Longer flight times......:)
Of course the batteries are interchangeable in either aircraft. (as long as you don't mix the electrons)

could it be a different manufacture date for the batteries with the h plus be actually older than h520 hence lower price?

Wow that explains so much. I did this wrong for my entire life. No wonder my batteries drain so fast!

My guess is that it depends on the number produced. The battery should be the same but the casing ist produced less often. Therefore it is slightly more expensive. Furthermore I think they do it because the customers pay for it. The H520 is made for professional use. Usually proffesional users are able/willing to pay a little bit more than private ones.

A common problem with supply chains having but one link. If it’s something you want or need you end up paying whatever they want to charge to get it.

Yep. Futaba did that with a couple of their high end radios. Proprietary battery packs for the TX that were simple 2S lipo or LiFe packs that normally cost $10 that Futaba wanted $90 for.

Being a retired EE I can say there is some truth to this. However the explanation is not quite so simple. First, contrary to popular belief, Orange electrons are not harvested. They are produced in a rarefied gas environment under ultra high vacuum at approximately 10−7 pascal/10−9 mbar. This infuses the electrons with PFM in a sublimation process, giving them the distinctive orange glow. It is the PFM process that drives up the cost of Orange electrons and the batteries that implement this technology. Only the H520 requires PFM batteries, the Plus does not. However the Plus can use 520 batteries, but they will not give the Plus PFM abilities. Only the H520 can perform these advanced PFM functions.

In case any of you are wondering just what PFM is; Pure Fuckin Magic!

Me: “I can get the same spec battery for $xx less if I choose gray/black.”

Her: “but the colors don’t match!”

Me: “So? It’s distinguished!”

Her: “But the colors should match. Just get the correct battery already!”

Me: “Yes, dear.”

(No inference of gender slighting was intended with the above post. The post is fictional. Any similarities to actual persons is purely coincidental.)

Newbie Engineer - “Network must be down, server A won’t talk to server B”

Me - “It’s a token ring network, the token probably fell out. See if you can find it.”

30 minutes later

Newbie Engineer - “I looked all over, couldn’t find it.”

Me - “They’re voice activated, look again and call for it.”

Few things in life are as entertaining as a smart arse with a brand new college degree crawling behind a server rack saying “Here token, here token, token, token.....”
