What is a realistic range for the Q5004K. Assuming clear view and no obstructions. Just flat ground. No wind to speak of. I know that the video feed will probably stop first but I am more interested in downwind range. Lets assume an altitude of 300ft. Today I flew out about 1600ft. Still had video for 99% of the time. Can I go further safely? If the Drone loses its connection with the transmitter does it go into RTH mode at some point? I had heard that it does but do not know if its accurate info.

Thanks!

I went out at least 4,871 feet yesterday after launching from a 52-foot hill and climbing to about 200 feet above that. The sky was clear with virtually no wind. I had a video feed for about 3,000 feet because of my elevation. That's the farthest I've taken the Q500 out. The limit is whether you can still see it and whether you have enough power to go out and return. It took about four minutes to fly that distance. The battery lasted 14:21.

Whenever the Q500 loses contact with the controller it will return after pausing if it can't re-establish communications.

VLOS is the answer. If you can not see it, or have no idea the orientation, then it is not safe.

Amazing. Did not think the Q was capable of that kind of distance even under those conditions.

Today went out 2500 ft downrange at an alt of 200ft May have loss video for a few second but video came back quickly. I may try 3300 ft in a couple of day if I can get my courage up! lol
