I purchased a new Typhoon H and followed the directions for charging the ST16 controller. However, when I push the button to 'on' the blue light blinks slowly but the screen never opens. Am I missing something or is the controller/battery defective? Just don't want to return for exchange and have someone point out a simple fix I might have missed. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Cheers,
Mim

How long have you charged the ST? Plug the charger back into the ST16, wait a few seconds then tap the screen rapidly twice. This will show you if the battery is and needs charging. It takes quite awhile for the battery to charge up.

Thanks AH-1G. I did charge the ST overnight so presumably long enough. When I get home I will try your suggestion. Should I turn on the ST first then tap the screen twice (in rapid succession), or tap the screen while the unit is still off?

When I do this, will the screen open and show me the battery charge status?

You may also need to take the battery out and reinsert.
I've looked in the battery compartment but did not notice a simple connector. It seems that there are wires running from the battery into the case. Thus would need to open the case to find where the battery connects to the system.

Odd? The battery is connected by a two wire plug, just disconnect and give it a few seconds then reinsert. Hope that works. When charging up the ST16 this is when you want to tap on the screen.[/QUOTE]

The blue light should not blink at all. It’s either on or off, no blinking in between.

To check battery state with the ST-16 plugged into the charger, leave the ST-16 turned off and simply tap the screen twice. A battery state image will be depicted.

The ST-16 battery uses a small EC plug to connect to the controller. You may have to move the wires a little bit to discover it. Use the blue tape to lift the battery out of the controller.

Thanks for your help PatR. The blue light would do a slow blink coupled with a quiet click sound. Tapping the screen in any instance would not bring up the battery state image. Time to return and exchange.

A huge thanks to AH-1G, rdonson and PatR for your advice in helping me sort out the charging issue. I have exchanged the whole package (at Costco) for a new one and everything charged up as was intended. But your quick response and desire to help makes me realize that I have joined the right forum. Now to take the bird for its (and my first ever) first flight. I am sure this will not be the last time I ask for help, advice or guidance.

@Mim
Please read all the instructions, as I know you will.
Make sure your first flight is in Angle mode, Do Not Fly In Smart Mode unless you are out side the perimeter shield. If you're not, you could have unexpected consequences.
I have now been flying for a year with out any incidences!I Never have flown in Smart Mode, even when I first purchased the H.
Turn the H on for at least 15 minutes in order to download satellite info.
During this time do not fly, bring a rubber band and paper clips, then see how far you can shoot them or at something.o_O. This is so time will pass faster, even though it cannot.;)

Duly noted AH-1G! Thanks again.

New to forum. Purchased Yuneec q500. Used unit. Can't find a connector to charge the battery in the ST-10 controller unit, looks like a small usb input. I have a USB (photo attached) but it has a 4 hole female plug on output end, and no place on controller for that that I can see. If I need a new charger, fine, but not sure what to order.

The ST 10 uses a standard mini usb cable that most phones use. The port is located on the right side of the controller. It doesn't require a special charger, just charge it like you would your phone. The plug in your pic is used to connect the Q500 to the GUI software on your computer.

Thanks... bought correct wire and it is charged up. Ready to fly now, a little jittery I must admit.
