Some forums auto-lock threads at 6 months. Keeps thread resurrections down, but can, over time, litter search results with multiple same topic threads.

Considering the work involved, 24.99 is more than acceptable. Wish I could help. Perhaps a gofundme campaing and you could hire some help?
Hello All,
I bought one of these flight controllers for a personal drone from the ground up project I am building. I dont have a yuneec drone but just bought the controller to reverse engineer as an alternative option to using my Radiomaster 16. Just tore apart the hardware and this dont look to bad to modify as I also write code. But before I go on this endeavor wanted to check if someone else already did the work. I also code (Im an engineer for a large company). Figured you guys keep up on these controllers based on this forums name. My name is Eric. If someone would not mind if they have been researching customization and there is none available and there is still interest out there. I was just going to post my work free on GitHub as I do this or my website. This would be a side project not something for money just for tinkering. Thanks.
 
There is a small community of users that are flying the Typhoon H with customized firmware based on PX4 autopilot. We are looking for developer to extent this project. We lost the original developer for this project because he is dong other things which is understandable and clearly his right. But getting more original functionality of the Typhoon H working would extent the user base and give the great platform of this Yuneec drone a longer life.

The so called Thunderbird FW makes the flight controller open source and able to use all PX4 features including QGroundControl which is also opensource - a step into a world where all is possible.

Awesome, thanks for the quick response. I enjoy programming on the side as a hobby as I am a network architect by day job instead of writing code except on as needed basis. So its a fun thing for me to do not having to only write code for a living. That being said I have been thinking about some type of open source project to give back on. If someone already started the geound work even better.

I might be down for helping on a new fork. I will review whats up there now at this time and see what the state of the code is. Wounds like an interesting proposal though. Il will post back here in a day or two after looking over the code this weekend with my thoughts.

Ok, I decided I am in to help. I can't promise how much time I can commit but will help as much as I can as possible (with family, work, and other commitments). I am building the custom drone and can focus on opening up the controller as much as possible. There might be a possibility to just swap in a new radio or do a combo of a rewrite for the app for the controller + add another module for the radio to make it open. Since the original module in there after I did the tear down is just a Zigbee with a simple serial connection. Opening it up should not be too big of a deal. I can also take a look at the custom firmware for the actual drone. But, I do not have a Yuncee drone. I may be able to port part of the code and check it on my own hardware I am building and contribute back to that part of the project that way. My handle on Github is FileLAN.com and I just starred your project and followed. Soon as I can make some progress I will post up a pull request. Is there a specific area where the development got stuck at if you have been following. Or where the other developer that left, stopped working on X feature? Look forward to working on this should be interesting.
