Hi! just got my H+ and updated all the firmware to 822. I notice when I try to fly without a camera, I cannot do compass calibration, RTL settings refuse to change and error out, aircraft GPS switch turns itself off upon turning it on, among many other things. am i crazy or doing something wrong? thanks!

You are not crazy and you are not doing anything wrong. All of those items are communicated via the camera WiFi to/from the controller and via UART between camera and aircraft.

Take into account that H+ is primarily controlled via the camera WiFi. A lot of spontaneous crashes are induced by camera malfunctions in the middle of the air. Flying without the camera is possible and not prohibited but don't expect a smooth movement. For 520, a special mode is designed to fly via SR24 only.

On all hexes, automated modes are not possible without a camera attached and working properly.

Possible to prepare your programming device to automate some tasks in your way. How the camera talks with H480 is explained roughly here in the forum. You can use it as some base for thinking.

Some guys use transportation fixes for C23/E90 during the calibration, and others remove the camera (don't put it back on the powered drone).
