Just try 4p recording and see how much disc space it uses. The numbers will add up.

I actually had some footage that I processed at 10 bit uncompressed, it was only perhaps 4 minutes of video, it used 148 gigs....

I personally shoot everything in the highest resolution that I can. Then in post I will bring it down to 1080 for youtube. Shooting in 4k gives you a bunch of room to play with the picture if you are downsizing to 1080. I hope to get some drone shots up on youtube pretty quick downsized from 4k.
