Received my new Typhoon H today and completed all the calibrations(compass, accelerometer and gimbal) before the first flight. First 2 flights performed well without any issues. However it experienced 2 hard landings and tipped over each time. I had watched several videos about tips on landing the H such as hovering in place before touching down. Tried to recalibrate the gimbal on the ST16 but it doesn’t respond. I’m still able to see a live feed from the camera but can’t control pan or tilt. The rubber gimbal mounts are all attached. Any suggestions or am I faced with sending it back to the site I purchased from in exchange for another.

Remove the camera and check the pins on the bottom of the H slide mount. If it looks like none of them are pushed down, then remount the camera and try again. Removing and reinstalling the camera often fixes camera problems. If it still does not work then you will need to exchange it.

To land without tipping over, hover 8-12" above the ground and then press and hold the red button until in lands and the motors stop.

As Steve says, one way to land without tipping over is to hover a few inches above the ground then do a red button jobby. That will get you on the ground sure enough. But caution with this. You could still have less than a smooth landing but if it avoids a tip over then it's good.

Another way, though, is to get loads of practice in. Practice a nice smooth landing without a bounce. Practice on ground that is fairly level without too much wind and you'll crack it.

Thanks for the reply and landing tips. I removed the camera and the pins look fine. I reinserted the camera and now there is some gimbal movement but not much. It will pan or tilt but it’s hit or miss. Tried the calibration again but it freezes after the first direction turn (pointing upward to the left). Any other suggestions?

Open Hardware Monitor and check the camera controls to see if they are moving full scale and look smooth.
