Dear Pilots,
I just got myself an H. I have downloaded and updated all firmware as adviced in another topic but unfortunately haven fly it yet (too latr from work and is dark outside).
but every time i start it for some dry fly checks it is saying me that obsticpe aboidance is not available.
is this normal? I have standart H and no realsence module installed.

can you please advice if i am something wrong?

thanks!

Yes. OA does not become available until you are 10 ft off the ground. This is normal behaviour and nothing to worry about.

Super :)
Sorry to put such stupid questions, but as i cannot try it for several days allready is making nervous :D

Hey, no worries. It's a lot to take in if you're new at this. The good news is you found this forum BEFORE you started flying :)

Not really true... At least not for my TH.
As long as it is in the air in any altitude, if i flip the OA on(no matter if landing gear is up or down) it is available.BUT OA only works in Angle mode and only.
I 've spoke more than 6 times with Yuneec EU about OA and they confirmed that this is the way OA it is working with latest firmware with Typhoon H (Without Realsence).

Hi again,
Today I finally fly it.... Amazing. :)
So much better than the Mantis Q that I used to have.

Back to topic.
Nope. No OA.
And this is the message I always hadIMG_20181222_195213.jpg

The screen shows that the ST16 can not tell you are in flight (no POS, no G-SPD, no DIS).
The 1.1m ALT is just barometer drift.
Let it sit until a few more satellites are locked. This can take a few minutes the first time.
Then hover 2-3m up for a minute.
All telemetry should be showing by then.

My main obstacles around here are trees, which don't reflect sonar very well.
I usually fly with OA off which allows more speed.

Confirmed. Is my bad. I lifted it up today higher and everything went ON. I have a feeling that i will also fly withouth OA and just observe the aircraft.

My experience so far has been rock solid reliable performance.
Only 2 minor issues.

I have had 2 landing tips.
One was from landing on a steep slope.
The other was drift between touchdown & disarm.

Also, The GPS path on CCC missions can shift up to 3m on repeated flights over time.
On one mission I had set the flight path only 2m from some trees, and a few weeks later it almost hit them.
I had one mission I flew twice a month for over a year.
Both arducopter mission planner and Yuneec's CCC flew the mission within 3m each time.

Hello, can you tell me -does OA/true sense operate when I switch the flight mode to "Home"? IE, will it fly smartly back to my location and dodge obstacles or does it fly in a straight line, potentially hitting something if I don't correct on controller? Thank you for any info!

I believe with OA on it will not avoid obstacles, it will fly a direct course of your last known take of point, (or where your ST is?). I have my home mode height set at 80'.
I've only use my Home Mode once or twice for only a few seconds and that was for orientation.

That is correct. OA does not work in home mode. With any luck the operator has the sense to set the return height higher than surrounding obstacles.
