Been monitoring mostly. Had mine a couple of weeks but only had a chance to fly it the first time yesterday because of scheduling and vacations.
Sure enough, I had toilet bowl syndrome on my VERY first flight and had to drop it in a (green) corn field. Stopped the props immediately and it all seemed fine. Dodged a bullet it seems.
Only one battery. Fast-Forward to today.
Just re-calibrated the compass. Had to do it several times. Lost my bind when I did it and had to re-bind. Finally got everything straight I think. Flew it about 3 minutes in Smart Mode with blinking Green and (blue or purple, I'm color blind!) and it seemed to fly fine for the most part though I didn't go to Angle mode and I didn't do much because the battery was about out due to all the calibrations and setup. I still don't know why it wasn't solid green!
I think it's all going to be fine but time will tell.
One positive thing that has surprised me is that the little filming I have done make me think my camera and lens are maybe one of the good ones. Really not enough data to be sure just yet but I'm encouraged. I had prepared for the inevitable on that one and so far, I'm pleasantly surprised. Maybe I won't have to re-align or replace after though I could probably do both in my sleep already.
I can tell you this and I hope Yuneec reads this because this is not insignificant. Had it not been for my 25 years of RC flying and my FS pilot training, I would have thrown this thing back in the box and demanded my money back from my dealer. I still may but there is at least hope now. Right now, I'm actually glad I haven't invested in any other batteries yet (none available here locally yet). I finally got mine right I think, but mostly because of MY skills and MY understanding, which a lot of the potential market for this doesn't really have.
Yuneec better get this thing right OOB or they are going to really suffer the consequences. QC is horrible and that in inexcusable. I have never had any of these problems with my P3 or P4, but I desperately wanted an affordable hex and this was my hope. I hope I didn't do the wrong thing. Again, time tells the ultimate tale.
