I followed the steps 1 by 1 and after the update all worked except the WIFI. I spent 1/2 an hour on the phone with tech support going thru everything. Not sure if the update had anything to do with the update as I did it prior to first flight. The camera did work before performing update though. Yuneec requested that it be sent in for repair.

Does anyone else's St16 show an update for the H and it downloads and says update done and to find its the same last update? I would think that if it updated successfully it would show it to be up to date like the ST 16 side does. Im just trying to determine if the latest update actually took as it shows the right versions but continues to let me update it again and again.

The poll has a question that I was under the impression that it was automatic only (No control). I couldn't find a setting to enable, or have it switch to the 5GHz radio.

I tried to update the ST-16 OTA via the SYSTEM SETTINGS, but when the process was "completed", the version number still showed the same. I thought maybe something had happened and it didn't complete so I was to try again another time. I have NOT tried again, however, I have been having issues with my H since then. How do I know if it worked or not? The next time I try the update, I am going to do it via SD CARD just to be sure.

I then noticed the H would not respond to the power button.

I had this happen right after an update to the ST-16 "seemed" to complete. My version # did not change so I figured the OTA update did not work. The next couple of times that I tried to fly, issues came up. I did NOT update the Typhoon H because I assumed the ST-16 one failed. Compass warning, longer calibration times and even a self land out of nowhere happened since the update. When I finally got the motors turning, the H would only respond as if in TURTLE mode (even though it was not).

I am hoping I have the older update on a card somewhere and I can re-load that and start over. Otherwise, I am afraid I might have to call and arrange to send mine in as well.

Hi Guys, I am not currently an owner but my retailer is on backorder. My question is: -
Would my new H Pro have the latest software installed ? I hope that since delivery is at least 6 weeks away, that latest software should be factory set.

If it's on backorder then you should expect it to be straight out of production, so, yes, it should be up to date.

6 weeks sounds like a very long lead time for delivery. I think a lot of vendors have the H in stock. Where did you order it from?

Thank you for the reply. I ordered through a video specialist as opposed to a hobby vendor as they have an exceptional rep for customer service. I live in NSW Australia the vendor is nation wide. I don't mind the lead time if it means slightly less hassle to get airborne and the aircraft is the latest spec.

Apart from small Quads, I fly mostly fixed wing RC and fixed wing FPV. The latter I use to monitor my farm for fence damage, water levels and locating stock in a fun and very efficient way. I think the H with "Toolbox " app will be ideal for my other planned uses.

I finally heard back from Yuneec and they replaced the GPS module circuit board. It's currently on it's way back to me. Hopefully this will be the end the issues I experienced after this latest firmware update.

Me too. UPS is delivering mine today with new gps board. If its fixe'd....no more updates.

I just did this update today. This is on an original unit delivered at the beginning of June last year and was the first time it's been updated. I was holding off on updating since I saw no real push to do it, but last time I had it out on a job I experienced real problems connecting the controller to the camera...so much so that my client remarked on the delay and I could see that he was getting a little peeved: it took almost half an hour to connect! So, I've updated it all and it seemed to go O.K. but I have yet to flight test it. Weather here in North of England at the moment ain't suitable for testing it so I'm going to have to be patient.

Hopefully it will be ok. Just watch out for that dreaded orange light on the back of the H and GPS warnings on the ST16.

I actually got the list from a previous thread on this forum. There is a list I printed and laminated and put in my case. The main prep I'm back to doing and got lazy on is making sure I've prepped a level pad and will not initialize the H unless it's sitting level. I've gotten into the habit of removing camera post flight so it's not hanging all the time in storage and easier to pop SD card out to load into editor.
I'm currently shooting winter sunrises and going for hover shots where you can watch the mountains light up and clouds change hue. It requires starting in blue dawn through golden hour and can be over 30 mins of shooting to get the perfect minute. Before I commit to the camera, I pop the H up about 8' and raise the gear and watch for drift. If I see some, I'll land and calibrate the compass using facing north on my prepped level pad as my starting point.
The other day I got a shot from my own backyard but had a left yaw drift. I checked the hardware monitor and sure enough left stick is acting funny. It took three ST calibrations but I got the stick back to proper ballistics.
My point has been on this forum since I joined is that this machine is very complicated and overly smart to the point of lulling you into some assumptions that can be crash causing. You cannot cut corners on getting the starting information correctly into the IMU and compass and it's overly sensitive to outside factors. Unfortunately, there are some gaps in the suggested procedure and starting level is one of them.

I'm fully aware some may want to dispute my conclusions so here is some proof of the H behaving the way I want it to.

Craig, have you tried time-lapse with the bird in the air? I made a time-lapse video with the bird sitting on the ground. The resulting video was pretty good except the gimbal moved ever-so-slightly during the shoot. I will try shooting time-lapse in the air sometime soon when weather improves.

So what to do when you see this orange light just briefly flashed before flight , with no warnings on ST16 ?

One more things I would like to ask if it is ok to ask here. Not sure what means GPS ready when i turning On copter and ST16 inside house. On ST16 saying GPS ready green (on the left where telemetry is) and 0 satellites ? How cac GPS be ready if there are 0 satellites ? But then again, how can we fly inside a structure , should we switch GPS OFF or not necessary ?

Well after receiving my H back late last week, I went to test fly it yesterday. I calibrated the compass, accelerometer and gimbal. After rebooting the ST16 and H, I received 3 compass warnings. I shut it down and went to another area in the middle of the field I fly at where there's nothing around and calibrated the compass again. Shut down and rebooted everything and the exact same thing happened again. After about 30 seconds worth of these warnings, they went away and the H was ready to fly and no signs of compass issues. I put 4 flights on it with the same compass errors. I went home to charge the batteries and just couldn't understand why this is still happening. Later in the evening, I drove to another field about 5 miles away and went ahead and calibrated the compass again. Once again, the same compass warnings appeared and after about 30 seconds, they went away. I flew the H and no problems.

I absolutely love this drone and prior to this last firmware update, I didn't have a single problem with it. It performed flawlessly. I feel after Yuneec had my drone, replaced the GPS module and test flew it, this shouldn't be happening. Given the amount of money my H Pro costs, I shouldn't have to constantly calibrate the compass and deal with these issues. Sadly, I am returning my H for a refund and calling it quits with Yuneec. Hopefully they will get the bugs worked out of their firmware and the H will be a reliable drone as mine once was.

I have the Polar Pro filters (3 filters) I don't need if anyone if anyone is interested.

This thread, and this poll, are why I posted my question in a separate thread. 50% reported no problems, 10% say it bricked their transmitter, 23% said they developed a new problem. I wonder how many people did the update the old way (directly from an SD card) and had problems compared to using the wireless update approach.

It's hard for me to recommend upgrading to other people with these conflicting reports.
